The Purification of Saint Mary the Virgin
February 2nd.

Almighty and everlasting God, we humbly beseech thy Majesty, that as thy only begotten Son was this day presented in the Temple in the substance of our flesh; so grant that we may be presented unto thee with pure and clear minds; By Jesus Christ our Lord.

Don’t you know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way to win the prize. 25 Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable crown. 26 So I do not run like one who runs aimlessly or box like one beating the air. 27 Instead, I discipline my body and bring it under strict control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
1 Corinthians 9: 24- 27
CSB

And when the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were finished, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 (just as it is written in the law of the Lord, Every firstborn male will be dedicated to the Lord) 24 and to offer a sacrifice (according to what is stated in the law of the Lord, a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons).
25 There was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, looking forward to Israel’s consolation, and the Holy Spirit was on him. 26 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he saw the Lord’s Messiah. 27 Guided by the Spirit, he entered the temple.
Luke 2: 22- 27a

---------------------
O Almighty God, which hast delivered this woman thy servant from the great pain and peril of childbirth: Grant, we beseech thee, (most merciful Father,) that she through thy help, may both faithfully live, and walk in her vocation, according to thy will in this life present; and also may be partaker of everlasting glory in the life to come: through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
